Isulong SEOPh Red Default Wordpress Theme
By Benj Arriola - Posted on Wed Jun 28, 2006
The Isulong SEOPh Red Default theme for wordpress is done. And after testing I believe it is working fine. Although this is the Red Default theme, this can still change into 6 more colors even if it is named red default. This is a color changing theme that even your users can change the color of your site based on their preference. I just needed to give it a default color and not just name it Isulong SEOPh because Wordpress theme database sites sometimes requires you to enter the color of the theme.
You may download the Isulong SEOPh Red Default Wordpress Theme here.
This theme is highly inspired by the Light Theme by Stephen Reinhardt. Although CSS was modified thoroughly, and PHP functions were added for the dynamic color changing of the themes.

I’ve tried this on my blog and am having one small problem.
As my blog is not located in the root directory (it’s in a subdirectory called ‘/blog’), the colour changer seems not to work.
It seems to set the url for changing colour to the root url and I can’t find where to alter it.
Can you offer any suggestions?

I am installing a new one on a folder and will check how it works. Come back to this site in a few minutes.

I just installed a fresh wordpress blog on:
http://www.isulongseoph.com/blog/
And everything seems to work. If ever there is any problems with the copy on the website, try downloading the copy downloadable from this page.
Another reason may be you have set your browser not to accept cookies from your own blog. The color chosen is save in a text file that your browser remembers to remember the color of the person viewing chose.
I hope that helps.

Trying to setup your theme on a site with the latest version of PodPress (http://www.mightyseek.com/podpress/) and the CSS seems to break the podpress layout. I’ve been trying to fix it but have gotten stuck. Any ideas?

One problem I haven’t fixed, is some color changing problems with subfolders like in your case:
http://www.mightyseek.com/podpress/
Although Subdomains seems to work fine, like if it was done this way:
http://podpress.mightyseek.com/
This is due to the reason that the cookie data that stores the color the viewer likes also stores the domain for where it should be read, which is a PHP default thing.
Now as for breaking, since the pages of Wordpress are displayed as tabs under the header, and if you have a lot of pages, this layout will really break which is based on the Light theme by Stephen Reinhardt. One suggestion I have is just disable the page tabs on the header and use the conventional way on the sidebar if you have a lot of pages.

[...] Inspired by Benj’s own themes, I thought of making my own as well. Though my themes are really a lot simpler than his, I still think it’s a good start for a non-designer like me. I know my design sucks but hey, I like my work. Hehe. [...]

[...] I made the color changing theme, which is mainly a design by a former co-worker of mine, Stephen Reinhardt who made the Light theme. and I decided to use the same theme with a color changing twist. So that it is quite unique to get more people interested in downloading this theme to generally increase the popularity on the site. The color changing theme uses body ID’s as a type of conditional statement and on every clicked color a cookie is stored on what color the site should be and this is read and placed in the body ID. But in order for it to display, a preliminary page is displayed to store the cookie, and returns to the referring page by a 301 redirect to avoid any issue of duplicate content for SEO, which I believe is fine. But this website is also doing it’s own experiments in the Isulong SEOph SEO Keyword Ranking Contest. And in this contest, time is already an issue since the Isulong SEOph contest ends on September 30, 2006. And I did notice, that Googlebot was crawling each and every color of my site. Although there should not be a problem SEOwise since they all 301 redirect to the pages to avoid duplicate content, there is a time-factor involved in giving Googlebot more pages to crawl that are not really necessary. Spending more time to checking each color just to be redirected to the same content. Thus only in this specific case, I have removed the clickable color changing of this theme on the upper right, but instead, I still made it cool by having each color change depending on the day of the week. That gives you a reason to check out my site everyday. Better yet, why not link to me, bookmark me, digg me, whatever and check my theme color change everyday. [...] This Isulong SEOph Contest is ending on September 30, 2006, although this site will be a permanent SEO Blog where this Isulong SEOph website is predicted to be a PR6 website on the next PR update as calculated by iWebTool’s PageRank Prediction tool, there are plans to add a forum to this site. It does not need to be integrated within this Isulong SEOph Wordpress template and can be placed on another page. Now I am choosing what forum software should I use? [...]
